Karen is an experienced family law attorney and mediator working with individuals and families experiencing the end of a marriage, post-divorce disputes, and issues arising from the advancing age, death, or long-term illness of a parent or other family member.

Law Practice and Expertise

She has been practicing law in the Bay Area for 30 years representing individuals in Family Law Court. At the same time she received extensive training in alternative dispute resolution methods which informs her practice in the field of mediation and collaborative law, which informs her practice in those fields. Currently, she is a member of local Bar Associations and alternative dispute resolution organizations, both local and international, as well as practice groups in her community.

She has served on the Advisory Boards of California Women Lawyers, Marin County Women Lawyers, and the Centerpoint Program for Women and Children. She was a founding member of Professional Mediation Associates, a volunteer attorney for the YWCA Legal Clinic, the Marin County Court Pro Bono Program, and a panelist for the Marin County Bench/Bar Settlement Program.

Karen’s style is personal and results-oriented. Her process is client-based, which means she works with the parties, individually and together, to identify common interests and goals where resolution can be found. With this approach she has successfully mediated even the most difficult family issues.
